Jewelers For Children and Disney Support World Wish Day
Make-A-Wish Foundation® partners Jewelers for Children and Disney will celebrate World Wish Day, April 29, by granting the special wish of 13-year-old, Makanalani Oke Akua Konanui, who is fighting acute myelocytic leukemia. Makana has wished to go to Disney World with her family.
“We are granting Makana's wish to celebrate World Wish Day and highlight the hope, strength and joy that the Make-A-Wish Foundation brings to children with life-threatening medical conditions every day,” said Lyn Brown, Make-A-Wish, Hawaii Executive Director. “We encourage people to join in the celebration and help us reach every eligible wish child in Hawaii. “Jewelers for Children and its members have made it possible for us to bring this kind of aloha to wish kids for the past ten years. Their support has made a significant difference in the lives of the courageous kids we serve.” The Make-A-Wish Foundation will mark World Wish Day with celebrations throughout the United States and in the 35 other countries in which it operates by celebrating the wishes being granted on that day. On average, every 25 minutes, the Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wish of a child with a life-threatening medical condition somewhere in the world.

Jewelers For Children, whose mission is to raise funds for children’s charities, benefits from the generosity of the jewelry, diamond and watch industries. Funds are raised throughout the year by a variety of special projects dependent upon the support of the jewelry trade organizations, multi-store retailers, independent jewelers and manufacturers who participate. Since 1999, JFC has helped grant a total over 900 wishes in all 50 states in the United States, including six in Hawaii. Additionally, JFC supports Make-A-Wish Foundation® International through annual grants.
