American Airlines And Make-A-Wish® Team Up To Create Magic In The Sky

Kassi Okinaka and Family Represent Make-A-Wish® Hawaii on American Airlines 13th Annual Wish Flight

A little bit of pixie dust, some hard work, and a whole lot of love helped one local girl get the fantasy vacation of her dreams. Kassi Okinaka and her family left for Disney World October 1, on American Airlines Flight  for Orlando. Their vacation began with a “bon voyage” hosted by American Airlines and Something mAAgic volunteers at the Admirals Club at Honolulu International Airport when the family arrived from Hilo.  Festivities at the terminal also included fabulous Sponge Bob decorations, cheering volunteers, and cake for all departing passengers.

Kassi has a cortical atrophy with epilepsy . Traveling with her were her mother and father, sisters and brother.  American Airlines has joined forces with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to fly children from around the world on Wish Flight to Orlando, Fla. for their dream-filled wish. The children and their families participate in welcome parties in Orlando, and a special celebration at Give Kids The World® Village in Kissimmee, Fla., where Kassi and her family stayed for a week.

The Something mAAgic Foundation, comprised primarily of American Airlines and American Eagle employees, works year round to raise funds and plan the festivities raising close to $1,000,000 for wish kids around the world since 1996. “Bringing joy to families and these courageous children is an incredibly special experience for everyone involved with Wish Flight.

We are very fortunate to be a part of such a magical event,” said Chandra Luce, President of the Something mAAgic Foundation.
