Pacific Rebekah Lodge IOOF Awards Grant from The Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation to Make-A-Wish, Hawaii

In March, over 25 members of Pacific Rebekah Lodge contributed over 100 hours of community service to the USS Missouri Memorial and earned ,000 from The Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation through their Weinberg Friends Program for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Hawaii.

“We are most grateful to both the members of Rebekah Lodge and The Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation for their generosity and for their dedication to helping those in our island communities who are less fortunate,“ said Lyn Brown, Executive Director of Make-A-Wish, Hawaii.

Shayleen Teixeira of Rebekah Lodge adds, “We are extremely fortunate to be able to be part of the Weinberg Friends program, as it gives our members the opportunity to serve not only one, but two great community organizations in Hawaii simultaneously.”

The Weinberg Friends program allows a service organization to perform a community service project. On completion, the Foundation contributes ,000 to an approved charity selected by the service organization.

Rebekah Lodge is an auxiliary ot The Independent Order of Odd Fellows also known as
“The Three Link Fraternity” which stands for Friendship, Love and Truth, was founded in 17th century England to improve and elevate the character of man. Odd Fellowship became the 1st national fraternity to include both men and women when it adopted the beautiful Rebekah Degree in 1851. –Odd Fellows and Rebekahs were also the first fraternal organization to establish homes for our senior members and for orphaned children. The mandate for Odd Fellows is to visit the sick, relieve the distressed, bury the dead, and educate the orphan.
